ARTETXE is a contemporary art center located in a former 600 m² agricultural cooperative in Tardets, in Haute-Soule. It was founded by artist Bastien Cosson and filmmaker Elsa Oliarj-Ines. From February 28 to March 29, Champ Lacombe has passed the key to ARTETXE.
But how to speak about a place while being elsewhere? The question of distance is the starting point.
“I am telling you about a distant land,” echoing the poem by Henri Michaux, is a way of describing both a place, what it means to live somewhere, and what it means to make art there. A distant land, because that is what people call us when they come to visit. A distant land, because returning to the studio feels like going into exile — into a space that exists only for itself, where one is alone.
The exhibition brings together works by Bastien Cosson alongside a program of guests, projections, concerts, lectures, encounters, and guided visits. Conceived as a living extension of ARTETXE’s activity in Tardets, the project unfolds from February 28, activating the space through moments of gathering and shared experience.
